Cookies & Tracking
This site doesn't set cookies.
Last updated 7 October 2026
No cookies, no advertising pixels, nothing stored on your device, and nothing that follows you around the web. We count visits anonymously on our own server, and you can switch that off below. That's why there's no banner asking you to accept anything.
What we don't do
- We don't set any cookies of our own.
- We don't run Google Analytics, or any analytics from an outside company.
- We don't run advertising pixels from Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn or anyone else.
- We don't track you across other websites.
What does happen when you visit
Server logs
Our host records standard access logs — your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser type. That's how any web server works, and it's what lets us spot attacks and faults. These logs are kept for a short rolling period and aren't used to identify or profile anyone.
Counting visits
We count visits with Umami, which we run ourselves on our own server in Manchester, UK. For each page you view it records the page, the site that sent you (for example one of our adverts), your browser and device type, and your country. Your country is worked out from your IP address, and the address itself isn't kept. Repeat views are grouped using an anonymous code that changes every month.
It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, can't follow you to other websites, and doesn't build a profile of you. Nobody else receives this data. We use it to see which pages are useful and which adverts bring visitors. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, you aren't counted. You can also switch it off for this browser:
Switching it off saves one small note in your browser, at your request, so we remember not to count you. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Fonts and icons from third parties
The typefaces and icons on this site are loaded from Google Fonts and cdnjs. When your browser fetches them, those services receive your IP address and basic browser information, because that's unavoidable in making any request to a server.
They don't set cookies for this, and we don't receive anything back from them. If you'd rather that didn't happen at all, a content blocker will stop it and the site will still work — it'll just fall back to your system fonts.
If you call or email us
That's covered in our privacy policy rather than here, because it's nothing to do with your browser.
If this changes
Until 7 October 2026 this page said we would put up a consent banner before adding any analytics. We chose cookie-free counting instead, because it stores nothing on your device and nothing leaves our own server, and we've explained it above, with a way to switch it off, before switching it on.
If we ever add anything that stores information on your device or tracks you for advertising, we'll ask you first. We won't quietly slip it in and update this page afterwards.
